Over the last 4 years, Deltona High has become my home and I am proud to bleed blue and silver. I am inspired by the work that is being done in the classrooms and there is no place else I would rather be than in the halls of Deltona High School. I often think of the Maya Angelou quote, “People will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.” It is important to me to ensure that our teachers, students, and parents feels valued, protected, and heard. It is one of my top priories to continue building bridges; to take interest, ask questions, build trust, and listen attentively.
As principal of Deltona High, our mission will not change - we are going to get that “A”. We will continue to foster relationships as we persevere towards academic excellence for years to come. As your leader, it is my responsibility to come in and set the climate and the culture of a school. I also know, the success of a school directly correlates to the folks working in the buildings. Staff, students, and stakeholders are the single most important factor for our school to succeed.
As stated previously, our Deltona High School mission and our goals are not changing, as I know we are on the right track. To support this, I would like to share our action steps to get to the “A” and continue striving for academic excellence. We will be focusing on something I call my “Big 4”, our pillars for student success:
1. Informed data-driven decision making
2. Providing equity through standards-aligned instruction
3. Ensuring all students graduate in four years or less
4. Ensuring all students leave Deltona High college and/or career ready
Every student here at DHS is important to me and I am dedicated to ensuring each individual student walks out of DHS ready for the next chapter and ready for future success.
